The São Jorge Castle is located in the parish of Santa Maria Maior in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Built in the middle of the 11th century, the fortification preserves eleven towers and features some architectural elements characteristic of military fortifications of the Islamic era. The flights of stairs adossados the walls give access to the battlements and towers, being open in all its perimeter. It stands in a dominant position on the highest hill of the historic center, offering visitors one of the most beautiful views of the city.
